Ruby Schmidt

State Manager Western Australia and Head of Production

Ruby is a producer and production manager based in Perth, Western Australia. Ruby has held roles as a Development Executive, Production Manager, Line Producer, and Producer before taking on the role of Head of Production with Perpetual Entertainment in 2024.

Ruby completed a Bachelor of Laws in 2013 before spending two years as a Development Executive at Carbon Creative, working across a diverse slate of projects including ‘League Nation Live’ (NITV), and ‘Sesame Street Season 47’ interstitials. While at Carbon Ruby also spent time working on a range of advertising campaigns for various State and Federal Government agencies.

Since 2017 Ruby has worked as a Line Producer on the four-part NITV/FranceTV series ‘Elements’ (2018) for WildBear Entertainment and was the Production Manager on the MIFF/Netflix feature documentary ‘Iron Fists and Kung-Fu Kicks’ (2019). In 2020 Ruby was an Associate Producer on the AACTA nominated feature documentary ‘Brock: Over the Top’ for Universal Pictures and ABC.

Ruby has also produced independent productions including ‘Belonging’ a half hour LGBTQI documentary for Screen Australia and Ten Play which premiered at Mardi Gras in February. The film was awarded best Documentary short at Melbourne Queer Film Festival. Ruby also produced the feature documentary ‘General Hercules’ with Director Brodie Poole. The film premiered in competition at the 69th  Sydney Film Festival and had its international premiere at Thessaloniki Film Festival in March 2023. In 2023 Ruby produced the feature documentary ‘Ford Versus Holden’ (Universal) for WildBear Entertainment and production managed ‘Bill Bailey’s Wild West Australia’ (Channel 4, ABC) for Perpetual Entertainment.
