Documentary filmmaker Thomas Meadmore has announced a move into narrative features, partnering with EQ Media Group on comedy feature Ball & Chain.

To be written and directed by Meadmore, the film follows freshly dumped entrepreneur Samantha who is resentful and unable to move on when she suffers a mysterious accident and wakes up invisible, inaudible, and chained to her ex with a front-row seat to his blossoming new romance.

The project is currently in development with EQ Media’s Lisa Duff on board as producer.

It’s not the first time Meadmore has collaborated with the company, which also produced his true-crime docuseries After The Night alongside Salon Pictures for Stan.

Meadmore, who has also made feature docs The Spy Who Fell To Earth and The Outsider, said he couldn’t wait to share the story with audiences.

“I’m very excited to be again partnering with EQ Media on my first fiction feature,” he said.

Ball & Chain is just how I like my movies – funny and entertaining with enough layers to touch my heart and give me a different perspective on life.

Duff described the project as “funny and thought-provoking”.

“Audiences will love protagonist Sam, laughing and cringing as she grapples with a solution to finding herself chained to her ex, and being in a front-row seat whilst his life continues without her,” she said.

Meadmore’s most recent project The Cancer Conflict will be released later this year, while he is also set to direct an upcoming Melissa Caddick feature documentary for ITV.
